Food, Drink and Healthy Choices

Healthy Choices

Lots of “Healthy choices” are promoted. This comes in various forms from being a
positive role model, to hand washing, to healthy meal choices and explaining why
they are important, to physical exercise.

Food and Drink

Water is available at all times. Milk, and occasionally fruit juice with water are also available.
During term time I will provide healthy meals/snacks. In school holidays I request the
parents supply a packed lunch. I politely request that these be healthy as we promote healthy eating practices.
I am able to heat up food in a microwave if necessary.
Subject to ages and stages of development of the children in my care at the time,
school holidays are a time when we will spend a vast majority of the time out and
about regularly having “picnics” at these venues. For this reason I request that
children come with their own packed lunch. It makes them feel very grown up and
promotes independence. I will monitor the order in which they eat the items so that
they learn to have the sandwich (Or whatever has been provided) called the “healthy
part” of their lunch first, before having the “Not so healthy part!”
